Not a Cow, Please.

I went to a psychic last week. I love stuff like that though I'd say I lean more cynical than believing. It's not that I don't believe some people have spiritual abilities far beyond most of us. My own father was psychic so I saw some incredible things growing up that it would be hard to disprove. No, I think our brains are capable of far more than we use them for in that realm.

In my experience, there are three kinds of mediums: 1) those who are so incredibly gifted, they can perform on demand, 2) those who are somewhat talented in this area but they are not always reliable and 3) quacks. The second two are skillful at getting you to reveal information about yourself to give them something to work with.

Even though I enjoy the experience, I am usually disappointed. Maybe that's my fault. I had a seer give me my money back once because she said I was too "earthbound" to get a reading. In fact, when I left, she gave me a postcard that showed a girl walking through the woods. Another girl stood beside a tree reaching out to touch her on the shoulder but the first girl was oblivious. The psychic said that we me and my guardian angel. She was trying to contact me but I was mentally resistant. (No one has ever been able to hypnotize me either) I still have that postcard and I still haven't communicated with my guardian angel.

Spirit guides come in all shapes and sizes. Many of them are animals. I read about a woman whose spirit guide was a cow. No, I want a wolf or a wild stallion or a wise owl! I'm not sure I could take a cow seriously!

My most recent lady's guides did not tell her I had lung cancer or that my son had died a couple of years ago which you'd think would be two momentous occasions worth noting in a person's life. I had to tell her myself. She did say she didn't see me dying any time soon and that my son was in a good place which, of course, are two things I'd like to believe. None of my immediate family reached out to me although I'd have thought maybe Mom would have popped in to say hi.

She also told me she saw me winning $300 on a scratch off ticket so naturally, I bought a scratch off ticket. I didn't win $300 but I did get my $5 back so I'll give the guides a second chance. I guess I'd be convinced if I won $300.
